🌿 The Plant Advocate Charter

Say No to Commodification. Say No to Modification. Let Plants Thrive, Unaltered and Free.

Green beings that sustain us — and allow all of life.

Why We Speak for the Plant World

In 2017, the Whanganui River in New Zealand was granted legal personhood. The Amazon Rainforest in Colombia followed in 2018. Ecuador’s Constitution recognised the Rights of Nature in 2008. Each of these moments affirms a simple, radical truth: Nature has rights. Beneath thought and language, life communicates as energy — a quiet pulse linking heart to heart, species to species. Humans make up barely one percent of Earth’s living mass, yet we often act as if the whole world were ours to use. Rivers, mountains, and woods exist in their own right — not as property, but as living beings. Plants shape us as surely as we shape them. We have co-evolved, each drawing breath from the other. To speak for the plants is to remember this kinship — and to act from it. If rivers and forests can be recognised as living entities, should not the green nations be heard too?
  • ⛰ To evolve naturally
  • 🌲 To reproduce freely
  • 🌾 To live in community
  • 🌿 To exist for their own sake

The Charter

We, the stewards of the living Earth, stand as Plant Advocates — in honour of the green beings who nourish, heal, and sustain life. Plants are not property, not commodities, and not tools for profit. They are living beings — teachers, healers, and kin — with intrinsic value, evolutionary integrity, and the right to thrive freely.
🌿 The Right to Exist
Plants have the right to grow and flourish in their own habitats, free from needless destruction, exploitation, or extinction.
🌿 The Right to Offer Medicine
Plants have the right to share their healing gifts as part of the wild world — not as resources to be owned, patented, or fenced off for profit.
🌿 The Right to Reproductive Freedom
Plants have the right to reproduce, evolve, and adapt through their natural cycles — without interference, modification, or commodification.
🌿 The Right to Ecological Kinship
Plants have the right to live in community — rooted in healthy soil, clean water, and living systems that sustain all beings.
🌿 The Right to Cultural Memory
Plants have the right to have their stories, traditions, and teachings preserved and passed on with respect and care.
🌿 The Right to Ethical Stewardship
Humans have a duty to act as guardians, not owners — to protect plant life from harm, overharvesting, and extinction.
“”When we modify or commodify plants, we harm the web of life that sustains us. If plants cannot survive, neither can we. Let this Charter be more than words — let it be a seed, a rhizome of connection and communication between our hearts, speaking of shared belonging rather than domination or profit.””
